Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Health on Monday reported 106 new positive cases of the coronavirus from 471 samples tested over the last 24 hours

Afghanistan's Ministry of Public Health on Monday reported 106 new positive cases of the coronavirus from 471 samples tested over the last 24 hours.

So far, 87,378 samples have been tested in government centers and there are 9,796 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, according to data by the Ministry of Public Health.

In the last 24 hours, the ministry also reported 10 new deaths from COVID-19 and 18 recoveries.

The number of total cases is now 36,263, the total reported deaths is 1,269, and the total known recoveries is 25,198.

The highest count was reported in Badghis with 21, followed by Farah with 20--other cases were reported in Herat (16), Kabul (14), Takhar (3), Bamiyan (9), Daikundi (13), Badakhshan (2), Laghman (1), Ghor (6) and Panjshir (1).

Also, the ministry reported 4 COVID-19 deaths in Ghor, 3 in Kabul, 2 in Balkh and 1 in Herat provinces.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 648,966 and the number of global coronavirus cases is 16,264,048, according to Johns Hopkins University.
