The three-day ceasefire, earlier announced by both, the Afghan government and the Taliban, ended today, with both sides launching operations against each other, reported Ariana news. 

However, despite the announcement of the Eid ceasefire, the country witnessed a few attacks, including an explosion in a mosque in Kabul that killed 14 people. The Taliban denied their involvement in the explosion.  

As the deadline for the ceasefire came to an end on Saturday, the Afghan security forces have launched clearing operations in besieged western areas of Lashkargah, Nawa, and Nahri Saraj districts.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Afghan government accused the insurgent group of violating the ceasefire on multiple locations across the country.

“The ceasefire has been violated in several cases and several points of the country and terrorist groups under Taliban leadership violated the ceasefire,” Fawad Aman, the deputy spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense, was quoted as saying by Ariana news.

“The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is committed to the ceasefire, but enemies are not committed and violated the ceasefire,” He added.

The fighting across the country has intensified since 1 May- the deadline set up under the Doha agreement for withdrawal of foreign troops deadline -amid the largely stopped peace process. 
Despite the calls from the Afghan civil society for extending the ceasefire, the insurgent resumed their attacks.
