South Korea has on Friday announced a visa ban on Bangladeshis as many passengers traveling from the country were founded the COVID-19 positive upon their arrival in South Korea, reported The Daily Star.
The South Korean government informed the decision to the Bangladesh embassy in Seoul. “The South Korean government has imposed a visa ban on Bangladeshi nationals in the wake of an increase in the number of passengers coming to South Korea from Bangladesh identified as COVID-19 positive. The ban will take effect on April 16, 2021,” reads a notification issued by the embassy.
This came after the last week the UK government had also put Bangladesh on its Red List, effectively banning the entry of people from the country. Pakistan was also put on the same list.
The COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the country despite the government imposing a week-long lockdown in the country.
