More than 5,000 tons of wheat assisted by India is expected to arrive soon in Afghanistan. The wheat is transported via Iran’s port of Chabahar.

Ghafoor Liwal, Afghan Ambassador to Tehran said Saturday that it was part of 75,000 tons of wheat assisted by India.

“The loading of the wheat was done and trucks will move to Afghanistan on Sunday. We hope the rest of the donated wheat also arrives in Chabahar and to Afghanistan in the coming weeks,” Liwal said.

India has also donated medicines to Afghanistan to help Kabul fight the coronavirus.

“500,000 acetaminophen tablets that are effective for the treatment of coronavirus have been donated to Afghanistan,” Taher Qaderi, Afghan Ambassador to New Delhi said.

“We have 100 million dollars donated by the World Bank. The European Union donated 117 million dollars and the Asian Development Bank has promised to help us,” Shamroz Khan Masjedi, finance ministry spokesman said.

906 people have been infected with the coronavirus across the country, according to the ministry of public health.

President Ghani has allocated some 2.5 billion Afs for preventing Coronavirus in 34 provinces.
