Male: Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has reaffirmed the government's commitment to multilateralism. The minister made remarks in a statement delivered on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Charter.

In his statement made through video, Minister Shahid highlighted the principles and ideals of the Charter that give voice and purpose to all nations on the basis of equality, despite the size of nations. Minister Shahid also called on all Member States of the UN to strengthen multilateral cooperation to address global problems and challenges, such as climate change, sustainable development and natural disasters. He further reaffirmed the Maldives’ readiness to work with all nations to promote the shared ideals for peace, economic progress and social justice.
