What Ails the World Today

Religion is the bane of the world today
The more you preach the less you say, 
God is One, whatever the name 
Sermons, only lead us astray.

Pontification is best left to the skies
Truth, today, seldom meets the eyes,
Honesty, now lost in the wilderness
Expressing itself in silent sighs.

All is now a blaze of glory
The past, sadly, bland and hoary,
Who was Nelson, does anyone know?
The wrong eye told a different story.

Very strange these Modern times
Where all we do is speak of climes
And then, do all we can to ruin it
As some, softly, declare war crimes.

Worldly gods are all a disaster
Servants all, who’s the Master,
The One we’ve placed in the blue above
Watching, silently, this roller- coaster!

Will He act or simply wait
Till, perhaps, it gets too late
And, vengefully, destroys us all
This, horrid, venom called Hate.

There was something once called ‘peaceful co-existence’
That word now turfed- out of existence,
We can never survive in the jungles, we know
Let’s give ‘us’ another chance and ensure Human presence.
