Seven minor Nepali girls, who went missing in Nepal on Tuesday evening, were traced to India on Wednesday, according to a report in The Himalayan Times.

The girls were rescued from Sitamarhi district of Bihar, an Indian state which borders Nepal, said a police officer from Mohottari district of Nepal. The officer said the girls, all aged between 10 to 18 years, went missing on Tuesday when they had gone out to collect grass.

With the help and coordination from the Indian police, all girls were been brought back to Nepal, said the Nepali police officer.

“It is impossible for these children to reach the Indian side without the involvement of someone,” Sanjib Sah, the mayor of Bhangaha Municipality in Nepal, was quoted as saying by the Kathmandu Post, implying the hands of human trafficking agents.

“Police should conduct a detailed investigation and take necessary action if anyone is found guilty of taking the girls across the border without their consent,”

Authorities said they will be handed over to their family, and police will conduct further investigation into the matter.
