Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said Bangladeshis are in a good state in Ukraine and the government is taking steps to facilitate those who are willing to return home.
He said, "As per the news we have, there are around 500 Bangladeshis there. A WhatsApp group of 250 of them has already been created. Our Poland mission is maintaining contact with them round the clock."
When asked how they would be evacuated, the state minister said, "Bangladeshis have to reach Poland's border on their own. Arrangements for their stay are being made in Poland. We are considering whether they can be brought back in special aircraft."
Shahriar Alam said, "Meanwhile, we have contracted with the Polish authority so that the Bangladeshis entering Poland are given on arrival visa. Bangladesh diplomats in Italy and Germany have been sent to Poland to assist in these activities."
Bangladesh does not have an embassy in Ukraine and the ambassador in Poland is concurrently accredited to Kyiv.
