Galle Additional Magistrate Pavithra Sanjeewani Pathirana today ordered that the body of a Muslim male who died of coronavirus infection while residing in the Deddugoda area in Galle be kept in cold storage without cremation.

The Additional Magistrate made this order when hearing the complaint filed by the relatives of the victim against the decision taken by the Acting Coroner of the Galle Teaching Hospital to refer the body to cremation following the recommendation of the forensic pathologist that the death was due to coronavirus.

The deceased was an 84-year-old Muslim male. The father of three died of a heart attack after being hospitalized with coronavirus infection.
