Desiderata III
Yes, pre-eminence, surely, must belong to the one who leads
Yes, pre-eminence, surely, must belong to the one who leads
The proviso being that he leads well and with conviction,
Bravado, must never replace beliefs for then inconsistent the deeds
And, waffling and prevarication set in which leads to inaction.
The whisper that works is far superior to the voice that’s raised
Beware, walls have ears too and soft tones take nothing away,
There may well be innuendos, nuances, to the acts praised
Transparency is a nice word that tells you nothing of the state of play.
When you engage with a snake, must have your pet mongoose with you
Or, be prepared to be the kind of mongoose that can take on a snake,
So, rattle if you can or run like hell else you’ll be bitten blue
Being unprepared will not spare you the blushes, nor get you your piece of cake.
Politics is the art of the possible but, more subtly put, of the impossible
‘Cause nothing holds back where the reins of Power are the object of desire,
Morality and Politics are strange bedfellows, almost adulterous in spirit
After all said and done, eventually, everything can and does catch fire.
Rainbows and their pretty colours in the sky look mirage- like
A consequence of tears that flowed from the eyes of the sky,
Spectacles are majestic like the rising Sun at Dawn
But, reality strikes when you cannot look the Sun in the eye.
Integrity of the highest caliber is the desideratum supreme
You cannot serve the People nor should they listen to you,
If truth is not your forte and only images to you matter
You do not fulfill the needs that make you Man, a leader true.
