Not in temple, mosque nor church
We never need read the Scriptures
We never need read the Scriptures
Whatever our language may be,
Nothing there that the heart doesn’t know
As Man is blessed with God’s given divinity.
Who does not know Right from Wrong
Conceding there are some grays,
Strange is Life as are Times
And, destiny with its wayward ways.
Emotions are complex and that’s a given
But, Scriptures aren’t Referral books,
We can’t look them up when we want to
And, for the rest be our own cooks.
The Ten Commandments live in all
In the DNA of each living soul,
The innocence of Childhood embodies this fully
Chinks in the armour when we think we are whole.
We’re all guilty of some transgression
In measures big and small
But, the daily reading of Holy Books
Will not save us from the fall
We’re all fragile to the core
And, the Devil resides within,
He won’t read those Books for sure
But, light up the roads to Sin.
He knows how easily we succumb
To temptation, to ephemeral pleasure,
He will extract the last pound of flesh
And, to the fullest possible measure.
We need to feel the Lord within
Deep down in the heart somewhere
Bur, for that to truly happen
We need to believe He’s there.
Not in structures, not in pictures
Not in temple, mosque nor church
But, the only place that He knows well
Our hearts are where we need to search.
