Prime Minister Imran Khan has refused to accept the resignation of his aide on information and broadcasting, retired Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa, in the wake of allegations levelled regarding his family’s assets.

Confirming the development in a tweet, Senator Faisal Javed Khan said the premier had directed Bajwa to continue working as his aide.

Meanwhile, the official PTI Twitter account quoted the premier as saying that he was satisfied with the evidence provided by Bajwa about his family's assets.

He also directed him to continue working as the SAPM on information and broadcasting, the tweet said.

A few days ago, journalist Ahmed Noorani broke the news on a website alleging that Bajwa had used his offices in setting up off-shore businesses of his wife, sons and brothers.

After almost a week of silence, Bajwa had said he was resigning as the PM's aide but would continue to work as chairman of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority.
