An Indian passenger flight of Indigo Airline made an emergency landing at Karachi International Airport on Tuesday after a passenger onboard fell ill mid-air. The aircraft was en route from Sharjah to Lucknow when the incident happened.
As the passenger condition deteriorated quickly, the captain of the plane sought landing permission from the Karachi Air Traffic Controller in Pakistan. Despite efforts, the patient couldn’t be saved as the medical team at the airport declared the person dead on arrival, reported The Express Tribune. The plane later took off to Ahmadabad.
Pakistan had earlier closed all civilian air traffic in its airspace after the Indian and Pakistan planes clashed in February 2019. The restriction was later lifted in July.
