Sri Lanka's Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda says he is ready to hold talks with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to resolve the problems of fishermen of both countries. Addressing a press conference in Colombo, Mr. Devananda said both India and Sri Lanka were committed to addressing the long-drawn fishermen conflict.
Sri Lanka’s northern fishermen have raised concerns over Indian fishermen originating from Tamil Nadu trespassing into their waters and using destructive fishing methods, such as bottom trawling which is banned in Sri Lanka.
