Sri Lanka has tripped a tax on Maldive fish imported from its South Asia neighbour and also raised a tax on fresh fish 30 per cent as a coronavirus outbreak from a fish-market reduced domestic demand.

A special commodity levy on Maldives fish was almost tripled to 302 rupees a kilogram from 102 rupees while with effect from October 27 for six months, a gazette notice said.
