    ECONOMY RECOVERING, BUT CHALLENGES AHEAD

As per the latest World Bank’s Global Economic Prospects (GEP) report, India is expected to grow at 5.4% in fiscal year 2021/22 and 5.2% in fiscal 2022/23 after an expected contraction of 9.6% in fiscal 2020/21. The study looks at signs of recovery like good GST collections in December, positive equity markets, posi-tive factory and agriculture growth etc and if these can result in a ‘V’ shaped recovery. The study also looks at the challenges ahead in areas of jobs, core sector, services. And against government optimism, there are words of caution by economists.
