The Sri Lankan government has no plans on selling the East Container Terminal(ECT) of the Colombo Port, reaffirmed Minister of Ports & Shipping Rohitha Abeygunawardena on Wednesday(23).

The ECT will be further developed into an economic hub in the future and discussions are currently underway with the Governments of India and Japan to connect with investors, he added.

Trade unions continue to point out that the ECT of the Colombo Port can be developed through Sri Lanka’s Ports Authority.
