The Millennium Challenge Corporation’s board of directors will hold its annual country selection meeting On December 15 to identify which countries will be made newly eligible for the agency’s funding.

According to the Center for Global Development (CGD), a think tank based in Washington, DC, this year some of the top candidate countries and the most interesting decisions in play for FY2021 include Sri Lanka along with Sierra Leone, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and Ethiopia.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in April 2019 approved Sri Lanka compact awarding a five-year grant of $ 480 million but the Sri Lankan government has yet to sign it and the program hasn’t moved forward.
