President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa today inaugurated the first phase of the Park & Ride bus service at the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Center in Kottawa.

The service aims to reduce the number of vehicles traveling to Colombo and suburbs by providing a comfortable, safe public transport bus service for motorists and motorcyclists. It is also expected to reduce pollution, time consumed and passenger stress.

Only luxury buses are used to carry passengers according to the number of seats. The fare is double the normal bus fare. The program includes a limited number of stops, short travel time to destinations, polite, friendly and attractive transportation service, daily follow-up with technology and two types of Clock Wise and Anti Clock Wise trips.
