Sri Lanka’s Minister of Education said as the subject minister, he will look into the functioning of madrasa schools in the country.

"It is my duty as the Minister of Education to look into the functioning of madrasa schools ... I will do it," Minister of Education, Prof. GL Peiris said in parliament today.

The Minister said from the time of the present President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was the Defense Secretary, a formal mechanism had been put in place for the admission of students and teachers to madrasa schools and their functioning. However, this mechanism was completely disrupted after the government of good governance came to power.
