Sri Lanka has won three bronze medals and a certificate of Merit at the International Biology Olympiad 2020 conducted remotely In light of the current worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

Arulanantham Abbinanthan of Hindu College, Jaffna, Nilushi Navodya Dhanapala of Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy and Sauni Ruwanima Malavige of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, won bronze medals while Samidhi Manthilani Munasinghe won a Certificate of Merit.

The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2020 was scheduled to be held in 3-11 July 2020 in Nagasaki prefecture, Japan but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as an alternative plan, the IBO2020 Organizing Committee introduced a remotely-conducted competition IBO Challenge 2020 where, the students can still showcase their abilities.
