A priest who organized a celebration with the image of former LTTE leader Vellupillai Pannirabhakaran at a religious place in Jaffna to commemorate Maaveerar Naal (Great Heroes Day) which falls on Friday (November 27) has been arrested.

Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the priest had planned to hold the celebration with another group and such celebrations will never be allowed.

Police spokesman said anyone holding public events in support of the LTTE will be arrested since the LTTE is a banned organization in Sri Lanka.
