The United States is pleased with the current Sri Lankan government’s social security program and its policies, and the US government was ready to provide any assistance needed at any time, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Alina B. Teplitz has said.

The US Ambassador has expressed this view when she and the Political Officer of the Embassy, Jeffrey Channing met with the State Minister of Samurdhi, Home Economics, Microfinance, Self-Employment and Business Development Shehan Semasinghe Tuesday at the State Ministry Office in Battaramulla.

The main focus of the meeting was on social empowerment programs, creating new income generating opportunities for low-income people and creating a new discourse on the microfinance sector.
