United States Secretary of State Michel R. Pompeo, who arrived in Sri Lanka Tuesday for a two-day visit, met with the Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today for discussions, the President’s Media Division said.

The U.S. Embassy in a Twitter message said Secretary Pompeo met with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to discuss the economic partnership based on transparent trade and investment, key components of the post-pandemic economic recovery – as well as a shared commitment to democratic freedoms.

Following discussions with the President, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for talks with his Sri Lankan counterpart Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
