From now on, all citizens of Bangladesh must wear masks to workplaces and outdoors, the government has said.

The order issued on Tuesday is meant to curb contagion at a time when coronavirus cases and deaths are still surging in Bangladesh.

The Health Services Division specified places where the people must wear masks and designated authorities who will ensure the implementation of the notice.

The places where people must wear masks include workplaces of public, private, and autonomous organisations, factories, markets, shops, malls, restaurants, educational institutions, places of worship, transports, social gatherings, and streets.    

The government also ordered people to wear masks even at home if a family member develops symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever or cough.
