Kota Namgay, the coach of the Druk Stars FC football team in Bhutan, has been banned for life over match-fixing charges in the Bhutan Premier League. The Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) took the decision after the coach confessed to the charges, kuenselonline reporred.

The incidents came to light after some of the players from the team approached BFF and alleged that the coach was asking them to concede goals and to not perform well in matches, said BFF president Ugen Tsechup Dorj.

The federation initiated a probe into the matter and some suspicious actions of the coach were recorded on tape. Dorji, speaking to Kuensel, said match-fixing never happened in the country in the past and the punishment should be severe to discourage it from being repeated peating in the future.
