Kabul: Afghan health officials announced 164 new cases of coronavirus registered in the past 24 hours, pushing the tally to 2,235 across Afghanistan.
Public Health Ministry Spokesman, Wahidullah Mayar said Friday that 45 cases were recorded in Kandahar, 44 in Kabul, 24 in Herat, 13 in Baghlan, six in Nangarhar, six in Jawzjan, five in Kapisa, four in Balkh, four in Badghis, four in Bamayan, three in Laghman, three in Samangan, two in Wardak, one in Parwan and another one in Nuristan.
Two patients in Nangarhar and two others in Balkh died in the last 24 hours, who surge the number of deaths toll to 68 people, Mayar said in a press conference. Out of 2,335 patients, at least 310 of them have been recovered.
Moreover 228 health employees have been tested positive for covid-19, the health ministry said, adding that most of them have been recovered.
The pandemic covid-19 is in a surge spread in Afghanistan, while the country is lacking a stable security situation and is facing with shortage of enough medical equipment and facilities.
The Taliban have promised to cooperate with the health organization to combat the virus but they have been continuing the attacks, which makes the surface difficult for the health employees to implement medical measures in the area under the Taliban control.
