Dhaka: A total of 123 citizens of Germany and several other European Union countries, who were stranded in Bangladesh following the outbreak of coronavirus, left Dhaka for Germany this afternoon.
"The special chartered flight of German Condor Airlines carrying the passengers left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) for Frankfurt this afternoon," HSIA Director Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul- Ahsan told media.
Meanwhile, EU Ambassador Rensje Teerink and German Ambassador Peter Fahrenholtz expressed their gratitude to Bangladeshi authorities for helping facilitate the chartered flight in separate Twitter posts.
Earlier, around 1,200 nationals of USA, Japan, Russia, Malaysia and Bhutan also left Bangladesh by chartered flights following the suspension of regular flights amid the outbreak of coronavirus.
