Bhutan will celebrate its National Day, 17 December, virtually this year due to the restrictions placed by the authorities in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, reported Kuensel.

The government has formed a committee, the National Day Celebration Committee (NDCC), to organize and monitor the preparations for the event which will be held on 17 December. The committee has teamed with two groups, Team Bhutan and M Studio, to organize the various events on different social media platforms.

The theme for this year's celebration will be “Past, Present, and Future.” Team Bhutan would be focusing on maximizing the use of social media to celebrate the event. People would be asked to post videos asking what being Bhutanese means to them.

Furthermore, M studio organized a video challenge where around 4,000 participants have already submitted their videos. And the best of videos will be aired during the National Day celebration.

People are asked to attend the National Day celebration from their own home using social media platforms and the committee will air virtual programs on the day.
