Three mosques in the capital Male’ City have been reopened after disinfection.

The three mosques were closed for infection after it became known that some individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 recently visited the mosque. The Islamic Ministry said the mosques were reopened for the dawn prayers.

As a safety measure against COVID-19, all the mosques in the Maldives were earlier closed for congregational prayers. Mosques in the capital Male’ was closed for more than three months for congregational. It has been about two weeks since the mosques have reopened in Male’ City.

A total of 2999 people tested positive for the virus in the Maldives. While 2369 people have recovered from the illness, the number of active cases is 600. After the relaxation of the lockdown measures, the positive cases have been surging over the past three weeks.
