Life is a game,
Light-hearted stuff:
Play it well and by the rules,
For it suffers not the fools.

Soccer it is that Raghav plays,
In school and on off days,
Frustration to vent,
And the air to rent,

With cries of joy –
It’s a goal, it’s a goal!
Goals you make,
And goals you score,
Honesty must always be to the fore.

Cricket you play,
A gentleman’s game,
It was always that
And must always be.

The ups and downs
Are part of fame,
The downs must always
Take the blame,
Dark spots on life’s fair name.

From tennis you learn,
The serve and the volleys,
And to glide around the court,
Grand avenues and back alleys:
It’s all about survival,
And the need to hold the fort.

Life without golf
Makes a lonely wolf,
And wolves are known carnivores.
You learn to act,
And to react,
To the bright
And the baleful bores.

The putts and the misses,
Brickbats and kisses,
Lipping out means so much more.
Carry on with the game –
And with Life –
Till it’s time to be shown the door.
