Iranian and Indian officials believe that the Islamic Emirate envisaged by the Taliban in Afghanistan is a "national security threat" for both countries and would be an "existential threat" to Pakistan.

“We need to put our differences aside and focus on our commons including the reality that the Islamic Emirate is an existential threat against Pakistan and a national security threat for Iran and India,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was quoted as saying by Afghanistan Times.

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said New Delhi was not Pakistan’s rival in Afghanistan, IBNS said quoting the paper.

“This is an illusion to think that what India does in Afghanistan indirectly targets Pakistan. These words harm India’s efforts in Afghanistan,” Jaishankar was quoted as saying by Afghanistan Times.
