Australian High Commissioner to India Barry O'Farrell, took the COVID-19 vaccine shot here on Tuesday and said he was proud to be part of "the world's largest Covid19 vaccination program rolled out in India".
He took a shot of AstraZeneca's Covishield, developed by the Serum Institute of India (SII) in India.
The High Commissioner tweeted, "#FirstDose today of @AstraZeneca’s #Covishield vaccine, manufactured by @SerumInstIndia. Pleased to be a part of the world’s largest #COVID19 vaccination program rolled out in India - 83,110,926 vaccinated since 16 January."
After marking over 100,000 cases, India witnessed a slight dip in daily case count and 96,982 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, official figures said on Tuesday. During the same period, 446 deaths were also recorded.
