India continued to record high fatalities due to COVID-19 as the country witnessed 4,194 deaths in the past 24 hours, as per the Ministry of Health released data on Saturday. The total death toll due to the virus now stands at 295,525.

During the same period, 257,299 new COVID-19 cases were recorded.

However, giving some hope to the nation, which has been ravaged by the deadly second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, 357,630 people recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours, IBNS reported. 

There are nearly three million active cases in the country at present in a population of 1.36 billion.
