An agreement has been signed between Addu International Airport (AIA) and national airline Maldivian to begin seaplane operations between Addu City and Huvadhu atoll.

The contract signing ceremony held at Addu City was attended by several cabinet ministers as well as parliament members representing Ga., GDh., and Addu atoll. The ministers in attendance include Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom and Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director of Island Aviation, which manages Maldivian airline, said seaplane operation will begin between the target destinations within 45 days. Tourism activities and economic activities in the atolls will flourish as a result of the service, he added.
