Institute for Global Success (IGS) in collaboration with KSF Space Foundation of the UK will launch the first space program in the Maldives, reported Sun news. The two organizations signed an MOU in October to develop a space program for the Indian Ocean Archipelago.
Speaking at the program launch ceremony, IGS chairman Rifath Mohammad said the program will involve designing, building, and launching space crafts and scientific researches.
“The first research project under the program will be introduced early next year. The technical study and the feasibility study for the project were done by industry experts,” said Rifath Mohammad.
The program intends to target the higher educations students of the Maldives and aims to develop youths to achieve targets. “We want to see the day astronauts from the Maldives work in the space industry. We are working to facilitate such opportunity,” IGS chairman Rifath was quoted as saying by Sun news.
Through the program, IGS targets to develop a new breed of leaders, engineers, and scientists in the country.
Hailing the partnership between IGS and KSF Space Foundation, Rifath said it is a key milestone in realizing our dreams and the position of the Maldives as the regional hub for scientific research, technology breakthroughs, and innovative solution that advance our own communities as well as the humankind.
