Is Peace, Even Remotely, the Desired Objective
I think there is an enormous gap
I think there is an enormous gap
‘Tween what we say and what we do,
Does anyone even want Peace
In Gaza, does anyway have a clue.
And, ‘tis very easy indeed
To extend this the World over,
Do we want Peace, anywhere
Or, is that an impediment to clover,
Else, you could lie in the sunshine
And, fish on the lake.
So, why Peace?
What’s driving this thought within me
That Peace helps no one
To attain extraordinary Power,
And accumulate unimaginable pelf,
With which to control Resources
Destroy Nations and People,
Different from Yourself.
Talk Peace, of course
How many Presidents did the Palestinians meet
How many signed agreements,
Where are they dusting some place
Pieces of paper
Humanity’s disgrace.
How long would it take
(For those who do not wish to end it)
To end this interminable War,
Perhaps, a few minutes of
Serious work
And, ‘twud would be all over.
So, why not, is what I ask
If Peace is really what is sought
But, if motives are malicious, then
Things are sold and bought.
Look at the mess In Afghanistan
It’s been years in the making,
One lot in, one lot out
The story needs no repeating.
Pick up any place you like
It’s the same everywhere,
Peace is a “no- no” hush word
When wars can get you there.
China, the third country
To get a Rover on Mars,
Wonder how the “chopper”
Will record it’s chat with the Stars.
Will we get an alien back
Or, empty- handed return,
Will Mars attempt a driverless car
And Tesla, in envy, burn.
But, you were talking Peace, Ashok
Not Mars and silly cars,
Next, will you begin to tell us
Why, no longer, do you get Pars?
I am, too, looking for some Peace, friends
For, that is how Golf and Life, usually ends.
