Chasing Mirages
Why are we chasing mirages always
Why are we chasing mirages always
Flights of fancy, far from reality,
Life’s finite we all know that
Wonder who invented eternity ?
We’re all like the ones in the Desert
Crazy with unquenched thirst,
Mirages seen everywhere
Till all hopes lie, sadly, burst
The mad men of the city
Charred by flaming desire,
Chasing shadows everywhere
Playing with the proverbial fire
The essence of life a now forgotten art
That needs to be visited again
That, which keeps life’s ship on even keel
The need today for all Men( and Women).
It’s a cliche we all know
The empty-handed departure,
Come with nothing, go likewise
Then why the constant, restive, nature.
Yes, we all need to seek ourselves
Look within and get to know “us”
And, do so every single day
Not wait for the last, departing, bus.
Mirages are mirages only
Eternal “dreams” that so remain.
