My River
There’s a river i know
Whose name i, often, forget,
There’s a river i know
Whose name i, often, forget,
That flows by my little lawn
And to it, I’m deeply in debt
It’s brought me great peace n calm
Whenever I think of it,
Acting like a soothing balm
When things got awry, a bit .
I now see that river rising
Up to my window sill,
And, in the distance, a sailing boat
That, I know, one day will
Take me flowing down the river
To the end of time, some place,
In a boat they call Eternity
When I’ve breasted the tape of life’s race.
It’s only a matter of Time, always
As lengthening shadows fall,
No Reason nor does any Rhyme
Ever change the final Call.
