Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, on his first official state visit to Afghanistan said on Thursday that his country would do everything to reduce violence in Afghanistan, TOLOnews reported.

In a joint press conference with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani,  Imran Khan said, “Pakistan will do everything and whatever is possible to reduce violence (in Afghanistan).”

Thanking President Ghani for inviting him to Afghanistan, Khan assured him saying, “We will do more than your expectation.” Ghani called Khan’s state visit to Afghanistan "historic" and said his visit comes with a message that violence isn’t a solution to the current situation.

Ever since the intra-Afghan talks started in Doha on 12 September, Afghanistan hasn’t seen any reduction in violence. With Khan’s visit, Ghani is hoping Pakistan to use its influence on the Taliban to convince the group for a reduction in violence.
