Indian government has suspended all tourist visas to India till April 15 and it will be effective from March 13 due to the spike of coronavirus cases in the country.
New Delhi: Indian government has suspended all tourist visas to India till April 15 and it will be effective from March 13 due to the spike of coronavirus cases in the country.
Press Information Bureau quoting the Union Health Ministry of India said all existing visas except diplomatic, official, United Nations/international organisations, employment and projects visas – will be suspended till April 15.
This will come into effect from 12:00 midnight on 13th March 2020 at the port of departure.
This revised travel advisory was issued after a meeting of a group of ministries headed by health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.
Even visa free travel facility granted to Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card holders is kept in abeyance till April 15th 2020.
This will also come into effect on 13th March. Any foreign national who intends to travel to India for compelling reasons may contact the nearest Indian mission.
All incoming travellers, including Indian nationals, arriving from or having visited China, Italy, Iran, Republic of Korea, France, Spain and Germany after 15th February 2020 shall be quarantined for a minimum period of 14 days on their arrival in India.
