Dhaka: Following India’s decision of suspending all visas, barring a few, the entry of passengers to the neighbouring country through land ports has come to a halt, The Independent reported.

In the wake of coronavirus outbreak, India announced the suspension of all existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/international organisations, employment and project ones, till April 15 from yesterday.

The passenger movement through Burimari land port in Lalmonirhat, Banglabandha land port in Panchagarh and Benapole land port in Jashore was suspended.

However, Indian citizens will be out of the suspension, said Anwar Hossain, sub-inspector of Burimari Land Port Immigration Police.

Meanwhile, Mehedi Hasan Babla, president of Banglabandha Land Port Exports-Imports Association, said the decision of halting passenger movement will affect the business as the port is mostly used for stone import from India.
