Colombo: Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has pledged USD 5 million to the SAARC Corona Emergency Fund.

During a video conference among leaders of SAARC countries this month, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed to set-up the emergency fund. Modi offered an initial contribution of USD 10 million.

Meanwhkle,  the first Sri Lankan to be tested positive for COVID–19 has left the IDH Hospital in Angoda. The patient was a 52-year old tour guide, who was diagnosed with the virus on March 11.
