The Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka Akira Sugiyama attended the opening ceremony for handover of a new bridge held in Buttala, Monaragala District on the 29th September 2020.

The bridge has been constructed under “The Project for Constructing a Causeway in Buttala, Monaragala District” through Japanese Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). Its grant contract was signed on 19th February 2020.

It is remarkable that the construction of the bridge was completed without delay despite many challenges that the community must have had to face due to various barriers caused by Covid-19.
