The Leader of the Opposition and Samagi Jana Balawegaya Sajith Premadasa yesterday (04) called on all those in the health sector to win their demands through negotiations and not to go on strike at a time when the country is in danger from the COVID-19 second wave.

The Leader of the Opposition while participating in the Expenditure Heads Debate on several Ministries including Trade and Industry stated that the present Opposition is not engaging in such opportunistic politics as a responsible Opposition, but that the Minister of Health should act on their demand before a general strike occurs in the health sector.

Mr. Premadasa said that it was the responsibility of the government to provide the necessary facilities and allowances to those who were fighting in the front line against the COVID-19 virus and asked the government not to endanger the country by ignoring their demand.
