Sri Lankan President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has issued an Extraordinary Gazette Notification to establish two new ministries and revise the subjects of several ministries.

Rajapaksa has issued this Extraordinary Gazette Notification declaring the establishment of Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Technology last Friday (20) with effect from 18 November 2020.

According to a gazette notification, a new Cabinet Minister post has been introduced as the Minister of Public Defense and the Police Department has been placed under that Ministry. Previously, the Police Department was under the State Minister of Internal Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management.
