The University Grants Commission (UGC) says the academic activities of all universities belonging to the national university system will re-commence today, nearly four months after they were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However academic activities in several universities will not commence today due to the lack of facilities to accommodate students according to the health and safety guidelines, the UGC said.

The media director of the University of Kelaniya, Senior lecturer Wijeyananda Rupasinghe has said that the Kelaniya University will restart its academic activities from Wednesday (19).
