Climate Vulnerable Forum Leader Summit, which was held virtually on Wednesday on the sideline of 75th United Nation General Assembly, appointed Nasheed as its thematic ambassador for ambition.

Maldives Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid called the appointment of Maldives’s parliament speaker and former president, Nasheed, as a key milestone in ensuring stronger climate action.

Shahid, speaking at the event, chaired by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said, “The country is proud to see such an eminent personality being appointed to this high post.”

Climate Vulnerable Forum, formed in 2009, is a group of governments of 48 nations that are disproportionately affected by the consequences of global warming.
