“Hedayatullah was killed in an operation by Afghan forces in Chaparhar district, Nangarhar province,” read the statement. Hedayatullah was designated shadow governor for Nangahar province by ISIS.
In recent months, ISIS has claimed the responsibility for several suicide attacks that killed many civilians in Afghanistan.
The Afghan forces also claimed he was responsible for making suicide vests for attacks.
Qari Abdul Rahman, another key commander of the terrorist organization, was also killed in a separate area of Baj-e-Ekmalati in eastern Jalalabad city.
In recent months, the Afghan Security forces have eliminated many top leaders of al-Qaeda and ISIS in Afghanistan. The operations were undertaken by special units of the ANDSF.
The recent quarterly report by the SIGAR, (Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction) also reported that the special forces of the ANDSF were proved extremely effective in their counterterrorism operations that were taken independently without the assistance of foreign forces.
