Repeated floods since the end of June have washed away Tk 510 crore worth of fishes in the central, north and southern districts, according to the Department of Fisheries (DoF).

The deluge submerged nearly 100,000 ponds and fish enclosures of 77,158 farmers.

In terms of losses, aquaculture farmers in Dhaka were the hardest hit followed by farmers in Barishal, Sylhet and Rajshahi divisions, according to data from the DoF.
